Angelo's South Philly - 4.75 Landaus (by @jJordanLandau)

There was an Angelo's in Jersey before it came to its current home on 9th st, in the old Sarcone's deli. But I never heard of it so I don't know how long it took to get him from Haddonfield to South Philly - but it was worth the wait!

I was told of this mythical place called Angelo's by a friend. No web page, no phone...NO PHONE?????  So I saw a post on IG and things looked promising. One Saturday I went in to this small shop that had people waiting in line and ordered a pizza, a cheesesteak, a hoagie and some drinks. It took about 25 minutes and all this food was in my hands, now I needed to find a place to sit and eat it, That's right folks-- take out only, cash only, no phone...But man is it good!

On subsequent  trips you walk into a shop that is bustling with energy, folks milling around waiting, locals coming in cracking jokes, Danny making pies, Jared cutting pies or making sandwiches. Angelo's opens at noon Tues-Sun and there's usually a line that starts forming by 11:30. The pizza's are made with such love and attention that you actually taste it in every bite. If Danny doesn't like the dough that day, guess what--no pizzas. You heard me right, no pizza if the dough is not up to snuff.

Bottom line here is : GET YOUR ASS TO ANGELO'S!!!!!! Go in knowing you'll have to wait a little, but what you get is amazing pizza. The Upside Down Jawn is a beast! a 10lb thick crust pie that will take you 3 days to eat as a family.
