Dock’s Oyster House is a restaurant full of tradition down in Atlantic City. Open since before 1900, it was totally redone a few years ago and it looks great. Dock’s has a huge bar area with TV’s to catch sports etc.
Dock’s also has a big jar of white horseradish on every table that used to go with OTC crackers (long story, might be worth a blog post on its own), but they are not made anymore so they just had a big glass of white soup crackers to go with it. Slight bummer.
For starters, I had the snapper crudo with pesto which was tasty and very fresh. I settled on the crab cakes which had very little filler and were a nice size for under 30 bucks. I did not sample any oysters from the raw bar on this trip but they had a great selection at 2 to 2.50 a pop. Desserts were solid with a fresh Banana Cream Pie topped with Caramel sauce and mint chocolate chip oreo crusted pie.
Normally when I am in Jersey, I am hoping for a BYOB where I drink great wine from my cellar and not get ripped off with the normal huge markup. Dock’s has an extensive wine list with great values. Many mailing list-only wines are under $75 a bottle with less than a 1x mark up. Dock’s also has an ample cocktail list and lots of beers on tap.
Overall nice decor. Good service and not overpriced. A safe shore destination. Dock’s gets 3.5 Landaus in my book.
